We had a perfect day in the Ste. Genevieve, Missouri area, but their story didn't start there.
Gilbert and Bia met for the first time in Wisconsin. Their first date was at an Italian BBQ place, and it was love at first sight for both of them. What's interesting is that neither of them is from Wisconsin. Gilbert is from Missouri, specifically the Ste Genevieve area, and the lovely Beatriz (Bia) is from Brazil. I love stories like this where two people from different hemispheres find each other.
The day started with the bride getting ready. All of Bia's bridesmaids, her two closest friends who were helping coordinate, and her Mom, Solange, were there. Many of Bia's family and friends arrived from Brazil to celebrate this special moment.
Bia's bouquet was beautiful and designed by Gilbert's grandma. My favorite part was the new rosary entwined with the flowers, which was a lovely and treasured gift from Gilbert's stepmother. Gilbert and Bia's names are engraved on the rosary, which also includes a charm of Brazil.
The bride made her entrance as she was driven to the front of the church and had a first look with her Dad before he walked her down the aisle. Gilbert waited patiently inside to get his first glimpse of his bride. It was worth the wait – she looked stunning in her beautiful white, sparkling gown, adorned with a train, jewels glimmering in her hair, and through her veil.
The bride and groom chose to celebrate a full Mass with God at the center of their new marriage.
After the ceremony, family pictures were taken on the church steps.
The wedding party was so much fun to work with – they were a great group and open to all our ideas. The bride had some fun and great ideas for pictures, as I had expected from their engagement session.
At the reception, the couple danced and took pictures with the guests. We grabbed some pictures of the cake table and homemade Brazilian candies that Bia and her family had made that week. They made 1,400 pieces of candies. Yes, 1,400 pieces of delicious goodies - such a special treat for all of us!
Another fun note, Bia had requested that her parents share a dance. I had never been to a reception where the bride's parents blew everyone away with their dance. Can you say, Latino Dancers? We loved every moment! They set the stage for the dance floor to open spectacularly.
Thank you, Gilbert and Bia, for letting us be a part of your day and the journey to it. Hugs!
